Me and my boyfriend stayed here for his birthday trip and our stay exceeded anything we could have imagined. The home was so beautiful as well as the property, town, and overall experience. Marcus was the best host he provided great recommendations throughout our trip. The home offers many different views and sitting areas and so many amenities to make your trip extra special. We can’t wait to come back to Watkins Glen but we really can’t wait to come back to what feels like home, the Idlwilde Inn. 5 stars is not enough. We love it here.

Wonderful long weekend getaway. Marcus and Elin were generous hosts. Our room was comfortable and the house was lovely with history and character. Delicious cooked breakfast and hot coffee on the sunshine on the porch is hard to beat! We loved having a space to charge our EV too. We walked down into town on the first day but decided to drive down for subsequent trips because the hill is very steep. There are plenty of places to park all over, so that was easy. Highly recommend a stay here for a relaxing time with kind people.

We stayed for 4 nights and didn’t want to leave. Elin and Marcus are perfect hosts. The Inn is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. We are dairy free and they made us dairy free versions of the breakfast each morning. Absolutely delicious. There is so much to do in the area and Marcus has recommendations for everything. The wineries were fun and we tried 4 different ones. The hiking trails with waterfalls were gorgeous and not too difficult. We can’t wait to return!

This was one of the most unique and relaxing experiences I could have done. My fiancé and I were looking for a relaxing two day getaway and after staying at other bed and breakfasts in the town, we want to try something near the city center and found idlwilde. Upon arrival, you drive into a beautiful sprawling estate that feels like a different time period. Marcus graciously greeted us, gave us a welcoming tour of the property and room, and left us to discover the beautiful details that the house held. He was deeply knowledgable in the properties history, funny, and perhaps one of the best hosts I’ve had in any of my stays at anyones property ever. The house was built in the late 1890’s with only 5 owners, Marcus being the fifth. The house maintains it historical aesthetic, while being outfitted with modern luxuries, such as central air, and accessibility to all the amenities you would want. The property has more ways to pass the time without a cell phone than you know what to do with- with board games, literature, plenty of sun rooms, outdoor games, and a beautiful porch overlooking the lake. We watched the sunrise over the hills the first morning we were there, which was perhaps one of the most beautiful sunrises we’ve seen. Breakfast was 10 out of 10, too. It was a wonderful home cooked meal with fresh local ingredients. It was perfectly portioned to fill you up and energize you for the day ahead. If you’re lucky, you get a chance to be greeted by the honorable “Stella”, the beautiful and kind dog that “truly” owns the property (hahaha). I honestly couldn't have had a better experience and as someone who doesn't often choose bed and breakfasts (because im more introverted and enjoy privacy), i felt this exceed expectations. It struck a balance between private and quaint with a warmth of human connection and hospitality, making this feel like a second home and the recharge my fiancé and I were looking for. I will be staying here again, and if you were deciding between this stay and other b&b’s in the area- even if this one is slightly more- i can promise you it will be more than worth it. We stayed at Idle Wilde Inn for our 50th anniversary gift from our children. It was the perfect gift. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys an awesome breakfast and great accommodations. Marcus is a top notch host. There was plenty to do inside and out and a lovely yard and view of Seneca lake. If you plan to visit Watkins Glen I suggest this place!

We had a wonderful stay at the Idlwilde Inn. The house is big and beautiful with a porch and view that can’t be beat. It’s clear that Marcus and Elin take great pride in making it a home that is welcoming and very warm. The breakfast was gourmet and great fuel for a day of exploring Watkins Glen and the surrounding areas. We would not hesitate to come back in the future.

Me and my wife spent a few days here and had a wonderful time. The location is close to downtown Watkins Glen. The home itself was a woderful stay. Great character for a 100+ year old home. Still in great condition. The staff wes very courteous and outgoing. Breakfast was served every day with locally sourced ingredients. A full compliment of juice and coffee as well. The owners were wonderful at every step. Prior to arrival great communication was started. I was able to also get great options for activities as well. Everything was well above board. This was an excellent experience and would recommend this place to anyone for any stay in the area.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at this beautiful Inn! Our room was lovely and our breakfasts were outstanding! We had a beautiful view of the sunrise over the lake right from our room. We could envision lounging the whole day there but we were out exploring the local gorges and waterfalls. The Innkeeper Marcus made us feel right at home and made sure we had everything we need. He is a great resource for everything local! We highly recommend Idlwilde Inn and we hope to return again.

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Idylwild Inn. From the moment we arrived, Marcus warmly greeted us and gave us a lovely tour of his beautiful home. We stayed for three days, and each morning we were treated to amazingly delicious breakfasts made with locally sourced ingredients. One evening, we even had the opportunity to meet Ike, the owner of the farm that supplies the fresh local beef, pork, and eggs served during breakfast — such a wonderful touch that made the experience feel even more special. The rooms were comfortable, the property itself was gorgeous, and the location was simply wonderful. We highly recommend a stay here and are already looking forward to returning soon!

Such a beautiful property with SO much character and charm! My husband and I were so delighted by every detail and felt like Marcus and Elin bent over backwards to make our stay unforgettable. We are already dreaming of a return trip! Shoutout to Stella, one of the cutest pups we've ever met.
