The Benjamin Hotel in Watkins Glen consistently receives high praise for its luxurious accommodations, prime location, and excellent service. Guests highlight the spacious and beautifully appointed rooms, particularly the large bathrooms and convenient access to the town’s attractions and wineries. While some noise concerns related to street traffic have been noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.
I found The Benjamin Hotel kind of last minute, and it was an absolute gem! The location was fantastic for meandering around the quaint town of Watkins Glen. . We stayed in the Franklin room which was lovely! Floor to ceiling windows let in all the natural light and afforded a birds eye view of the town, yet tinted windows gave privacy. The Franklin also included a sofa, writing desk, pub table and was super spacious with an amazing bathroom. Included in the awesome kitchen were snacks & coffee, perfect for ending our day and fueling us before the trip home. I love all the natural light and the fact that we could enjoy our coffee and evening drink at the window without being visible from the street. The tinted windows also had automatic blinds which gave total darkness for sleeping. JR Dill Wine bar downstairs was equally as wonderful. Great drinks and staff! We started and ended our evening there and bought a bottle of their Fore Vodka to take home. Because this room faces the street, there was a lot of morning noise due to truck traffic, but we were unbothered by this. There are other rooms in the back of the hotel that may be quieter if you’re a light sleeper. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We’ll definitely return to The Benjamin with friends and family!!
Me and my husband stayed here this past weekend for our anniversary and the whole place was nothing short of remarkable. I was so sad to leave because we enjoyed it so much. The room is so cozy and spacious. The bed is so comfy it’s hard to get out of. They stocked the room with snacks, an nespresso machine and even put bath bombs in the bathrooms. The bathrooms are so big and have a double shower head. I felt like I was at a spa every time I showered. They even put games in the hall which was pretty cool. Tons to do in the area and all the food and drinks were amazing. The tasting room downstairs was delicious. We went a lot because it was so convenient. No public parking but street parking was very easy to find close to the hotel. We can’t wait to come back again.
Great hotel in a super central location. Rooms were big, clean and comfortable and well supplied. Super close to the attractions in town. We walked over to the Gorge Trail and the harbor in less than 10 minutes. The only slight drawback was the truck noise in the early morning, since our rooms faced directly on to the Main Street
The BEST hotel in the Finger Lakes! Perfectly located in downtown Watkins Glen, a short walk to numerous restaurants, short drive to the Seneca Lake wineries. The hotel is immaculate, the Franklin room is my favorite home away from home. 3rd stay in there, 4th stay at the Benjamin and am already looking forward to my next visit!
This place was amazing! The rooms are beautifully modernized with all the latest comforts and luxuries. My room was spacious and very comfortable, and the kitchen area felt quaint and inviting. The location is perfect, making everything easy to access. And the bathroom was the largest I’ve ever seen in a hotel—such a pleasant surprise. I would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here this past weekend (early March 2026) for my wife’s birthday weekend. The price for a weekend off-season was extremely reasonable and a great value. The hotel itself was gorgeous and the rooms were massive, clean, very well taken care of, and decorated perfectly. The bathroom alone was the size of your standard chain hotel room itself! We absolutely love this hotel and will book it every time we come up for a weekend off-season. Its walkable to everything in Watkins Glen. The JR Dill Wine Bar downstairs was a great place to unwind after a day driving the lake. They had friendly knowledgeable staff with amazing cocktails and a great craft beer selection. The only downside to this was no private parking area and the spaces out front have a 2 hour time limit. We parked a block down on 3rd Street as check in instructions stated after we unloaded and were perfectly fine with it.
What a Fantastic space!!! Absolutely loved it. Very comfortable and relaxing. Had everything we needed and customer service was awesome. Espresso machine was a fabulous surprise. Complementary wine tasting and a bottle of wine made you feel appreciated. Highly recommend for a couples getaway. Location was perfect!!
The Benjamin is a true hidden gem. This boutique hotel perfectly captures the rustic charm of Upstate New York while providing high-end comfort. The rooms were immaculate, Jill was incredibly welcoming, and the views of downtown Watkins Glen were breathtaking.10/10 would recommend.
We stayed recently for a 10 year anniversary get away. Upon first arriving we were very impressed, the room was nice, that bathroom was beautiful, however the advertised soaking tub was much smaller than anticipated but thats a small issue. The problem came when we were awoken multiple times throughout the night by some sort of animal scurrying around above us, I'm assuming squirel or chipmunks. I emailed the hotel when we left informing them if this disappointing situation and didnt hear anything for a few days. I emailed again and was met with barely an apology and no attempt to try and make it right. I understand things happen, I understand animals coming in for the cold season-we live in the middle of nowhere. What's frustrating is the lack of customer service and follow up. Editing to add: I did receive follow up communication and a partial refund which we were satisfied with.
This was a massive surprise. Watkins Glen is a very small lake town in central NY and there are not a lot of very nice places to stay. Many "decent" but this is next level. Right in the heart of the village, completely new rooms. High attention to detail, absolutely amazing. I would definitely stay here again. We first booked the big hotel in the harbor but when we found this we switched. Glad we did!
